What is a hackathon? And what is Hack IoT specifically?

a hackathon is a collaborative event in which teams engineer solutions based on a theme. Hack IoT focusses on creating IoT products within a 24-hour period. With this year's theme being 'Sense-ability'- teams are encouraged to create products designed for interfacing with the 5 senses.

What qualifications do I need to participate?

No experience is needed to qualify! Additionally, we will be holding workshops with IEEE's Design Team to familiarize hackers with basic skills prior to the event.

How are teams judged?

A team’s product is judged by a panel of educators, company representatives, and other professionals in IoT. The criteria for judging is based on Technical Difficulty, Creativity, Usability, and Business Potential.

What should I bring?

Please bring your USC ID and any toiletries you will need for the 24-hr period. We will be providing 3 meals on April 1st and a light breakfast on the 2nd for participants.

How big can teams be? What if I don't have a team?

Up to 4 people are allowed on a team. If you do not have a team while registering, we will group individuals without a team before the hackathon.
